A TOTAL COMMITMENT

By Melek Diabendia,  April 7, 2011

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength."  (Mark 12:30

"And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.  And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:  Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me." Ruth 1:15-17

This was the commitment which Ruth gave to her mother-in-law and it is a precious parallel for our commitment to Christ.  (Ruth 1:16-17). "And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee:..."

"FOR WHITHER THOU GOEST I WILL GO."  "These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth.  These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.  An in their mouth was found no guile; for they are without fault before the throne of God."  (Revelations 14:4-5).

"AND WHERE THOU LODGEST, I WILL LODGE."  "Father, I will that they also, whom Thou has given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me."  (John 17:24).  "Now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city." (Hebrews 11:16).

"THY PEOPLE SHALL BE MY PEOPLE."  "And they said unto Him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for Thee.  And He answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?  And He looked round about on them which sat about Him, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren!  For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother."  (Mark 3:32-35).  "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren."  (1 John 3:14).

"AND THY GOD MY GOD."  Jesus saith unto her, - go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God." (John 20:17).

"WHERE THOU DIEST, WILL I DIE, AND THERE WILL I BE BURIED." "That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death."  (Philippians 3:10).  Unconditional, total, and absolute surrender is the price we must pay.   We are His completely, we are HIS all the way, if we wish to be completely one with Him!

"And Elijah said unto Elisha, "Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan". And Elisha answered, "As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee". 2 Kings 2:6

"WHEN THE Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were going from Gilgal.  And Elijah said to Elisha, Tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel. But Elisha replied, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel.  The prophets' sons who were at Bethel came to Elisha and said, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? He said, Yes, I know it; hold your peace.  Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. But he said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they came to Jericho.  The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? And he answered, Yes, I know it; hold your peace.  Elijah said to him, Tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan. But he said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And the two of them went on.  Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood [to watch] afar off; and the two of them stood by the Jordan.  And Elijah took his mantle and rolled it up and struck the waters, and they divided this way and that, so that the two of them went over on dry ground.  And when they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, I pray you, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me. He said, You have asked a hard thing. However, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you--but if not, it shall not be so.  As they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire parted the two of them, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.  And Elisha saw it and he cried, My father, my father! The chariot of Israel and its horsemen! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.  And he took the mantle that fell from Elijah and struck the waters and said, Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah? And when he had struck the waters, they parted this way and that, and Elisha went over.  When the sons of the prophets who were [watching] at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha. And they came to meet him and bowed themselves to the ground before him." 2 Kings 2:1-15 (Amplified Bible)

"And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, What! Are you so utterly unable to stay awake and keep watch with Me for one hour?"  Matthew 26:40

"And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast." Revelation 17:12
"Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come." Revelation 18:10
"For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off," Revelation 18:17
"And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate." Revelation 18:19

Propheticly then, just how long is one hour?  I believe it is about two weeks.
